Family Friendly Games To Play This Holiday Season
The winter holidays offer some of the best quality time for families to play games together! Kids love getting to interact and compete with adults and there’s nothing better than receiving some undivided attention from mom and dad. We’ve compiled a list of fun, family-friendly games to play this year!
Get ready to be doubled over with laughter with this ridiculous mouthpiece challenge game! The Speak Out game brings friends and family together for laugh-out-loud fun as players try to say different phrases while wearing a mouthpiece that won’t let them shut their mouth. In the Speak Out game, players draw from the deck and read the phrase as best as they can, but it’s not so easy to do when the mouthpiece is hindering them from forming words correctly. The timer counts down as players try to say phrases such as “he’s my stealthy pet ferret named Garrett” or “slow down, you careless clown.” The laughter continues as players try to decipher what in the world their teammate is trying to say, and must correctly guess the phrase in order to earn the card. The team with the most cards at the end of the game wins. While the box may say recommended for ages 16+, younger children will love this game! Screen cards before playing and make sure the mouthpiece fits in your child’s mouth and they should have no problem playing!
This family has lots of giggles trying to figure out what he’s saying!
Last year, Pie Face was all the rage. This year, Hasbro has come up with Pie Face Showdown, a game with two face holes for double the fun! First, players load the arm with whipped cream (not included) on the included sponge. Then each player places their chin on one of the chin rests and at the count of three, rapidly mashes the button nearest to them, which activates the hand on the throwing arm. The suspense builds as players try to get the arm to move toward their opponent and when it gets too close to the pie thrower, it’ll spring up and that player will get creamed! The player who doesn’t get “pie-faced” wins.
The Zobmondo You Gotta Be Kidding! game gets kids and grown-ups thinking, laughing, reasoning and having a blast making goofy decisions and completing the wild “Would You Rather” challenges. Best of all, kids have fun speaking up for change, instead of always saying “I don’t know.” Watch imagination rule and confidence build as kids get comfortable standing up for their choice while laughing the whole time. Would You Rather eat a bucket of apple stems, or eat 20 banana peels? Gross, huh? But you cannot say “neither” when playing this game. Even though nobody would eat that stuff, each player still has to choose. So make your best choice and then speak up and tell everyone why. To win the You Gotta Be Kidding! game, you must correctly guess what the others will say and successfully complete even more outrageous challenges as you try to move forward to the finish line.
The art of family storytelling often needs a jump-start. Life Stories is just the game to bring the extra voltage to your family gatherings. It’s noncompetitive and comfortable to play because there are no right or wrong answers, only stories, thoughts, and dreams. Players advance by rolling the dice, taking a card and following directions like: “Where would you live if you could live anywhere?” or “Describe one of your best or worst teachers.” If the card is something players would rather not talk about, they pick an alternative, such as “Ask each player to imitate a snore.” Players finish at the board’s center, where stories and positive comments are celebrated. Children under 10 will enjoy this game more in the company of adults. This game is a great way to share interesting stories with young children that they might not hear otherwise.
Beat the Parents Family Challenge is the game of friendly family competition! Everyone competes in four kinds of events: Vision, Agility, Smarts, and Luck. Each event card deck has 27 unique mini-games that share that theme. Vision games test your perception and visual memory such as memorizing a picture and then answering questions to see how much you remember. Agility games test your physical skills and dexterity, such as flipping and catching a medal with the card. Smarts games test your knowledge and quick-thinking ability. Rely on your good fortune with Luck games, which leave the outcome purely to chance. By the time all four Event Medals have been collected, the team that has won the most challenges and medals wins the game! With over 100 mini-games available to compete in, Beat the Parents Family Challenge is the ultimate game of family fun!
No matter the game you choose to play this holiday season, your children will most certainly be happy you played and remember these fun traditions for a lifetime!
