Local Cherry Blossom Festival
Celebrate the arts in Lexington Park at the Arts Park Cherry Blossom Festival
Do you love going to D.C. to see the Cherry Blossoms in the spring? This year, southern Marylanders will have the opportunity to stay local and enjoy cherry blossoms right here in St. Mary’s County at the Lexington Park Arts Park Cherry Blossom Festival! This is a great opportunity to avoid the hundreds of thousands of tourists crowding the sidewalks and creating long lines to all of the area attractions. You will find the celebration at Coral Drive and Tulagi Place in Lexington Park, MD.
The Festival on April 9th from 11am-4pm will include awesome art activities including mosaic totem building, yarn bombing, sidewalk art, and scarf water coloring. Enjoy disc golf lessons and demonstrations, and musical performances. There will also be a dog costume parade and contest at noon! Don’t forget to enter your vote for the Lex Park Comes Alive! mural design contest. All afternoon, children (and pets) can get an Easter photo with SMAWLIE, the mascot of the St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League and the blossoming cherry trees in the background.
11am- Great Mills High School Marching Band
12pm- Costumed Dog Parade
1-3:30pm- Musical performances and Dramatic performances on stage
4pm- Lex Park Comes Alive! mural design winner announced
Admission to this event is free, however, low-priced donations are requested to participate in art activities. Proceeds will go toward improving and sustaining the health of the trees in the park.
